WindSim Accelerator is bought as a subscription, not as a standalone license. Read on to find out what that means for you.
WindSim Accelerator comes in several different plans, dependent on volume. Each plan offers a different level of credits, see here. You can choose between monthly, yearly or 3-yearly subscription plans, with additional discounts the longer the period. Also, existing desktop customers will get additional discount for the first 3 years when converting to WindSim Accelerator.
Let's discuss the differences between a SaaS subscription and license with annual support and maintenance contract a little more in detail.
Software as a Service (SaaS) Subscription:
- In the SaaS model, customers pay a recurring subscription fee (typically monthly, yearly or 3-yearly) to access the software.
- The subscription fee includes all services such as hosting, technical support, and maintenance, providing instant access to upgrades and improvements.
- SaaS is often hosted on the cloud, which allows for easy access for multiple users from various devices and locations.
License with Annual Support and Maintenance Contract:
- A license with an annual support and maintenance contract involves a one-time payment for the software, which allows the purchaser to use the product indefinitely.
- WindSim maintains the product with minor updates focusing on security and compatibility with hardware and operating systems.
- There is an annual support and maintenance fee in addition to the original price, in order to get access to support as well as upgrades and improvements.
Key Differences:
- Payment Structure: SaaS involves recurring payments, while a license involves a one-time payment plus a yearly maintenance fee.
- Access: SaaS provides cloud access, while a license typically restricts everything to one local computer.
- Maintenance and Support: In the SaaS model, maintenance and support are included in the subscription. In the license model, these require an additional annual support and maintenance contract, with associated cost.
- Software Updates: SaaS subscriptions usually include regular updates and improvements. With a license, significant updates is dependent on having acquired a support and maintenance contract, and will only take place at certain times.
